Netiquette for our Customer Examples

The CEWE Community is here to share our joy and enthusiasm for photography and our photo products. We encourage sharing and inspiration. We rely on respectful, friendly and fair interaction and ask that you please observe the following netiquette:

Manners and Communication

• Be friendly and polite to each other.
• Everyone has their own experiences and should not be judged or criticised.
• Respect the opinions of others.
• Make suggestions for improvement constructive.
• Be fair and open-minded.
• Avoid sarcasm and language that could be misunderstood.
• Reviews should be understandable and ideally explained.

Pay Attention to Readability

• Please use correct sentences, spelling and punctuation.
• Use upper and lower case where appropriate and avoid too many coloured highlights or other formatting.
• Use smileys/emojis with caution, as they are often interpreted differently.
• Do not write entirely in capital letters – this is not only hard to read, but equates to shouting. The same applies for certain repeated characters, like !!!!!! or ?????

Salutation, User Account and Real Names

• Anonymity online can lead to extreme statements. Think before you comment whether you'd say it in a personal conversation.
• To avoid misunderstandings, address your discussion partners directly.
• If a member uses an alias or pseudonym, respect their desire for anonymity. Even if you know them personally, do not use their real name without permission.
• Do not share personal data (name, address, email, phone number, etc.) of yourself or others.
• Don’t ask for personal details such as gender, age or location.
• Only one user account per customer is allowed. Additional accounts will be removed and may result in full exclusion.

Stay on Topic

• Comments should relate to the products and content.
• Think about what you want to say and keep it brief.
• If responding emotionally, consider waiting a night before replying.
• Be direct and avoid ironic comments.
• Advertising is prohibited.

Correct Quoting

• Mark every quote and credit the source according to copyright law.
• Only quote what is relevant, not whole texts.

Do Not Share Posts and Images Without Due Consideration

• Respect copyright and image rights – don’t use others’ photos without their consent.
• CEWE reserves the right to delete posts/images that go against moral or ethical standards.
• By posting, you declare that the content does not violate applicable law.
• Off-topic, offensive, political or socially critical content is not allowed. Such comments won't be tolerated and will result in exclusion.
• Do not insult, provoke or threaten others. These actions are forbidden and will lead to exclusion.
• Extremist, racist, violent, pornographic or inhuman posts/images/submissions are prohibited, won't be published, will result in exclusion and prosecution.
• If other users report concerns, these will be checked.

Failure to observe our principles may result in comment or account deletion. We look forward to a respectful and inspiring exchange about photography and CEWE products and services.
