Do you think it is "Cliparts/Linien" that is made wider and then changed to these colours?

Do you mean the elements on the cover or inside the book?
I suppose, it could be this on the right side inside the book: .
If I'm right, this is the easiest solution, I think:
Take a clipart Farben/Colours, change the colour, give it a transparency of 50% or more, duplicate it and arrange them. .
By the way, it's a very nice book.

yoou can also reach this effect by using an unicoloured picture and a mask taken from Masken & Rahmen/Verläufe
